Abundant life in the flesh is not evil.

The extremes of material well-being and chronic poverty do not fit into the abundant life Christ died on the Cross for. Excessive wealth on the one hand or acidic poverty on the other hand can lead to destiny truncation. The soul needs some measure of want to be properly focused on God.

All-round lack is a harbinger of worldliness. Protracted hunger does not resist stealing to assuage it. Abstaining from the pleasures of this life is not virtuous. Over-indulgence in earthly pleasure is guaranteed to harden the heart, which erodes saving faith.
